Anyway, the thing that struck me the most in my new job is this almost cliché-ic conversation that I used to have in almost everyone in the office:
Colleague 1: Hi! You’re new here?
Me: Hello! Yes, it’s my first week.
Colleague 1: So, what language were you using? Java?
Me: No. PowerBuilder.
Colleague 1: (With amazement) What’s PowerBuilder?
Me: (Confused on how to explain it) Hmmm, it’s like Visual Basic.
Well, yes, it’s been like that for a week or two. Almost nobody knows the programming language that I am using. I even have to tell them which companies were actually using the same language. Well, it just feels like discussing Beverly Hills tummy tuck is easier to discuss. Anyhow, there are some who knows what PowerBuilder is. And I am thankful for that.
Anyway, I guess I am adapting swiftly in my new work environment. I guess being in Singapore for six months did help me a lot. It had improved my personality as well as developed my independence; hence, my situation right now. And more importantly, God guide me to nice co-workers. Yes, I need not to undergo rhinoplasty Los Angeles just to feel welcome and be accepted by my colleagues. Furthermore, I don’t feel so alone (eventhough I’m the only PowerBuilder peep out there) as everybody is willing to extend a help and answer my queries.
Still, in everything, I thank You Lord!
