The campaign period had been a circus. It consists of continuous black propaganda and mudslinging that is making me sick. A lot of friends had been openly supporting their bets through social media – Facebook and Twitter. But none of them really affected my choice.
I planned at creating a post for my shortlist, but failed to do so. Maybe I wanted to have my vote as solemn as possible? Or maybe, I am really not yet decided on whom I am going to choose and vote on Monday.
I am caught between two presidential candidates. I am certain with my vice president. I fall short of the twelve senators; I had only eight candidates in mind. I am definite with my governor, vice governor, and mayor. But I don’t have any idea whom to vote for the congressman, board member, and vice mayor positions. I only got one councilor to vote. As for the party list, the list is so long that it is making me hard to choose one.
Among the party list, I will go for the one who would really represent the marginalized sector – as what the party list should really be about. And of course, I will go for the one whose marginalized sector to be represented will affect my family directly or indirectly. Last election, I go for the one that stands for PUJ owners for we own one. But now that we no longer own one, who am I picking?
There is this party list that I am looking at, the Liquified Petroleum Gas Marketer's Association party list (LPGMA). At first, I am on doubt about their name, having ‘GMA’ on it. I am a self-proclaimed opposition, that’s why. But reading on their stand and their aim when given a seat on our government makes me realize that they have nothing to do with our GMA.
Their president, Arnel Ty, makes me realize the importance of checking, if not controlling, LPG prices. Like the transportation issues, it is like a domino effect. Higher LPG prices would mean higher cost of cooked foods. Worse is when common people choose to use alternative cooking methods that are risky and dangerous to one’s health – and the environment too. Thus, having someone to closely look at this one simple yet valuable factor is of big help to the community. Well, I should know. We had been an LPG dealer years ago. And price fluctuation really makes our small business unstable, resulting to quitting from it. You can learn more about LPGMA 161 on Facebook. More so, you could ask questions in their Twitter account, LPGMA 161 on Twitter. (Social media is really redefining us huh?)

Fellow Filipinos, fail me not. On Monday, be prepared. Do your homework. Study. Make a list of the next people who’ll govern the land. Make it clean. And before shading your ballots, pray to God.
