Globe Run for Home '10: I Love the Flyover

My angel and I alight the cab at Makati Avenue(?). The 21K runners were already on their feet. We find it hard to cross them and put our things at the baggage area. We also spotted Coach Rio at that instant. After a minute or so, we finally got the chance to cross the 21K runners. We hurriedly look for the baggage area and found it right before the starting line. We left our things there and find our way to the 5K runners. We overheard a bouncer throwing sarcastic remarks on runners, which we found very improper. Good thing, a co-bouncer cool our head by saying "Ingat po sa takbo".

Before the gun start for the 5K, I am on hesitations if I will be pushing myself to have a 6min/km speed or simply enjoy the race. But as my angel and I discuss things, we settled on simply enjoying the race and have fun. It's a fun run anyway right?

Gun start.

And so off we go and run for as long as we can. I made my stops at each and every hydration booth put up along the race route. And I have to say that I give Globe-Ayala a thumbs up. There were more than enough Powerade and water for hydration. More so, they are cold. Really thirst quenching.

As we continue to run and enjoy the race, I become excited-slash-challenged when we saw that we actually have to run the flyover. Wow! I just remember the practice run I had back at adiNation Ortigas group. And so, while most of the runners walk while climbing the flyover, we RUN. We also take the rare opportunity to have our pictures taken while we're at the top.

Before going down the flyover

While we were still at the peak of our excitement after crossing the flyover, we were surprised to see that the FINISH line is already a few meters away. But no, I don't sprint nor accelerate, I just continue to run until I cross the FINISH. After which, I immediately send RunningAtom a message, "Whoah! I love the flyover!" signaling him that we're already done with our 5K.

As we cross the FINISH line, we were welcomed by outpouring Powerade and water. Well, they just know what runners need after a challenging route. Afterward, we enjoyed the booths and the program. We also take the chance of taking photos.

Hey there! Komusta! Thanks for visiting my site. I am assuming that this is your running site? I will be sure to come back and check out more later. You mentioned your goal is to do ultras as well. That is great. This year, I will do one 21k and one 42k. Thanks again for visiting. I went and added this to my filipino runners side blog roll. Take care, and God Bless.
