March 20, 2010 is the race day. We were almost sleepless the night before since it was our group outing at Patio Jose near our office. Nonetheless, we were (or shall I say RunningAtom was) determined to run. He had practiced it daily anyways.
It was a blessing that there were a number of taxis in front of Patio Jose. From there, we rode the cab to our destination.
We arrived at the destination a little early. I immediately grab a free Gardenia, for I am already hungry. While ProgRunner and I were doing our stretching, RunningAtom had his warm-up run. The emcee (or whoever he was) started to discuss the race route. But then, he has remarks that I believe is totally improper. He mentions that in an instance that a marshal had shown us the wrong way, and that we get lost from the route, it is not the marshal's fault. He told each and every runner that it is our fault, for as a runner, we should be responsible in knowing the race route. WOW! I, for one thing, agree that I should be responsible in knowing the race route. But having a marshal showing me the wrong way is another thing. I couldn't believe it! And as a couple of runners were raising hands, probably would like to clarify on the things that he just said, he sarcastically says, "I won't entertain any questions." Duh! I said, "Whatever!"
Anyhow, at the gun start, I run, run, and run. I really planned at running the whole 3K stretch. And I am successful! I crossed the FINISH line at around 20:xx. Unfortunately, I don't know my rank, and I don't know either if the official results will be displayed. I asked RunningAtom how he had performed, he told me that he finished around 13:5x. Wow, that was fast!
When everyone's almost finish, RunningAtom and ProgRunner were already planning at going back to Patio Jose. But I hesitated. I told RunningAtom that we should wait for the announcement of winners for he might be a winner. And he, indeed, was. I immediately reach for his hands and congratulate him for his podium finish. Really, his daily training paid off.
Congratulations [Coach] RunningAtom!
