How about you? Searching for a car? Whether new cars, used cars, car leasing, contract hire, or van leasing, BuyYourCar.co.uk offers these variety of choices. And to help you decide, they have this car reviews section that is ultimately independent, no bias. Check it out! You're in the right track.

We Support Earth Hour

I am proud that my family had supported the Earth Hour last night. Even for an hour, I know we made a difference. Some find it irrelevant. They thought an hour won't really help. But for me, I believe it did.

Earth Hour is an international event organized by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), and held on the last Saturday of March each year, which asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF Greenwich CT and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008. This year, it happened last night, March 28, 8:30-9:30PM.

While the lights our out, me and my family had the picture taking. Here we are.

Ha ha ha, what do you expect? All lights are out, even the camera's flash, hee hee. Well, we really captured those pictures since we failed to turn the flash 'on'. Here's our picture with the flash.

Irish, Me, and My Sister

The above picture was taken by my 2 year old niece, Stephanie. Here she goes, during the Earth Hour.

Stephanie Ashlee

One thing I noticed then, having all the lights 'off', the air become cold, fresh. Might want to try it even it's not Earth Hour. :)

Convert String to DateTime

Just felt that I had to blog this. It took me a considerable amount of time to figure it out, ha ha.

Problem:

I simply need to get the last day of the year. I will be using it as a denominator to compute for the fraction of the year of a given date after I had converted it to day of year.

Here's how it goes:

Day of Year of the Given Date divided by Total Number of Days of the Year.

Yeah, I know I should have just make it 365. But, there will always be a leap year. I know that there's not much of a difference, but I wanted to get the exact value. So, I have this one:

'12/31/'+convert(varchar,DatePart(year,GetDate()))

Which resulted to:

'12/31/2009'

But when I tried this:

DatePart(dayofyear,'12/31/'+convert(varchar,DatePart(year,GetDate())))

I got this error:

The following error occurred while fetching results:
Cannot convert 12/31/2009 to a timestamp
SQLCODE=-157, ODBC 3 State="07006"

So, I tried this:

DatePart(dayofyear,convert(datetime,'12/31/'+convert(varchar,DatePart(year,GetDate()))))

I got the same error. Until finally, I had this:

DatePart(dayofyear,convert(datetime,'12/31/'+convert(varchar,DatePart(year,GetDate())),101))

And the result is: 365. Yey! Oooops, don't forget to convert the result to numeric in order to get a numeric result. Convert the numerator as well.

convert(numeric,DatePart(dayofyear,convert(datetime,'12/31/'+convert(varchar,DatePart(year,GetDate())),101)))

Why I Hate Credit Cards

I never really wanted to have credit card. But once you're working, you can never escape agents calling you, asking for your information, and offering you credit cards. Though I never really intend to have one, I was kinda forced to have one. As you may know, I really am not rude to anyone, as far as I can hold myself from being not.

So there, I had this HSBC credit card that I had used for a couple of times. One was when I bought a Nike Max Air Back Pack for My Angel. The other was when I bought J. Lo Live perfume.

Come January of this year, I received a statement of account reflecting only the annual fee. Since I never really purchased anything using that card. So, I called their customer service and requested to cut my card. She offered to wave the annual fee in lieu of the points I had accumulated. I agreed. She told me that I would be receiving my next bill reflecting zero (0) balance. With that, I still don't use my card.

Come February, I was shocked. Oh well, yes, my annual fee was waved. It was zeroed out. BUT, I have this finance charge for the late payment of my annual fee, ha ha ha. Are they making a fool out of me? Again, I called the customer care and requested to cut my card. He told me that they are already processing my account and that they are zeroing my balance and would be receiving a statement next month. BUT, I insist. So, he told me that he would cut my card. Oh, thank you very much.

Last night, I was madz. Another statement of account arrived. It shows the balance I had last month, plus finance charge, plus penalty charge for not paying the amount due last month. So, again, I called the customer care. I state to him my story. He told me that they are processing my account to revive all my dues, then will cut my card. Sure?!

I was just glad that I was not able to use my card for emergency purposes. What if I had purchased something using my card? Am I suppose to pay for the finance and penalty charges that I'm not suppose to pay? What if I'm naive about all these stuff, and I pay the dues, will they reimburse what I had paid them? *argh* I just HATE credit cards!

Track Your Link

I've been very open on the purpose of my blog - to earn money. This blog had grown. And my knowledge in the online world had evolved as well. And my need of several services to keep my blog up to date keeps on growing. Lately, I would want to shorten long urls. Whenever I am doing my bloghop, there are times that I had entered incorrect url, simply because it was too long. Thus, I felt the need to shorten long urls.

As a blogger, online money earner, tracking the links we had placed on our blogs is very important. It would give us the idea if our campaign had been effective or not. If it is bringing us money or not. With this, I had been resourceful to find a free useful tool online. And it's great because I found trackable tiny urls tool. It's a package of what I need. The said tool, which I found in URL zoom, keeps track of my tiny url clicks, including the date and time statistics. With that given data, I would be able to develop a strategy and analyze on the specific spot where I should place a url that I would definitely want my readers to click/follow. Thus, bringing me more success in online money making.

Programmer By Heart

I thought of creating a separate blog for my programmer stuffs. But, I find it real hard to maintain numerous blogs, so, I'll just be posting it here as well. It would be just a sort of tracking programming bugs or tricky problems that I had experienced and resolved.

This would be another revelation to all my blogger friends. To those who just knew my through this blog, I want to introduce my first love -- programming. I could say that I'm a programmer by heart. I resigned from my previous job after 7 months because I hardly enjoy my work. Simply because, I'm a programmer by heart. But nowadays, I am feeling that I'm a blogger by heart, ha ha ha.

Okay, I'll start my programming stuff post with a simple backup server problem. Oooops, before I forgot, I'm not an expert. And I would just be providing tips on problems that I had encountered in Power Builder and Sybase Database.

Error: Site 'SYB_BACKUP' not found in interfaces file.

Solution:

Check your sysservers:

select * from master..sysservers

Check the entry for SYB_BACKUP srvname. The srvnetname of the said entry should be the name of your backup server, commonly, it is SERVERNAME_BS. If not, update the said entry:

sp_configure "allow updates", 1
go
use master
go
update sysservers
set srvnetname = "SERVERNAME_BS"
where srvname = "SYB_BACKUP"
go
sp_configure "allow updates", 0
go
If not, that we have to find out ;)

Group Voice Messaging

Familiar with group messages (GMs) via SMS? How about group VOICE messaging? Possible? With MyVoiceDialing.com, it is possible. Similar to GMs, they could send messages simultaneously to a considerable number of recipients. Yes, that's what we call Voice Broadcasting. And they focus their service on Loan Modification Leads. What's more amusing is, they offer the lowest rate with this kind of service. See for yourself. =)

Did You Smell It?

Just like wardrobes, I always stick to a single brand when it comes to perfumes. And my pick is Jenifer Lopez Live perfume. I first had this scent from My Angel fresh from Japan. I really love the fragrance that it emanates in the air. Not too strong, yet not so light. Whenever my bottle gets empty, I don't settle with any other brand. I just don't want to risk to smell so strong that I might arrive like stung in the nose of those who could smell me. I just want to remain simple and sweet with this scent. I would like to hear, "Did you smell it" in a sweet remark rather than in an annoyed one.

Well, that's based from my personal view. I just don't want strong fragrances. I just want my scent to be somewhat natural. I even dislike fruity scents. I just wanted it to be simple that would surely suit my personality. You can find personal opinions as well in this new perfume blog to find several views.

Why Minnie Madz?

Have you ever wondered why did I choose minnie madz as my pseudo name in this online world? Well, it was all because of him...

Doesn't get it yet? Well, he is my favorite PBA player, Chris Pacana. He was not that popular. He was not a star. But, I just like the way he played defense intelligently. So where did the minnie madz came from? Obviously, his ears earned him the nickname mouse. My friend Thania gave him the monicker mickey mouse. So, I became minnie mouse. And to make it more personalized, he's mickey chris, and I'm minnie madz, ha ha ha.

But, unfortunately, he got injured for some time. But, he's back now. Though he was not given ample playing time this season, I still cheer for him. It was just fun watching basketball. And, he is really a nice person outside the playing court.

Friday the 13th

I know this post is pretty late, nonetheless, I wanted to share my Friday the 13th experiences. One of which I just realized last night while me and my mother was having a chitchat.

February 13, 2009. Friday the 13th. Funny yet painful experience. I got my 3 fingers sandwiched in the door of a taxi, hu hu hu. I was laughing with almost tear drops in my eyes then. I was stupid at that time, ha ha ha. I immediately YM my sister to ask what am I suppose to do to lessen the pain. She advised me to put ice over my poor fingers. And I did. And it was very effective. Thanks to my sister ;)

March 13, 2009. Friday the 13th. My Google Adsense account has been disabled, hu hu hu. For further details, check my Goodbye '_' post.

Then, just last night, while having a chitchat with my mother. I just felt the urge to check if February 13, 1998 was a Friday the 13th. And it was. And what was that date all about? It's our JS prom. And...
... it was the day my father was brought to the kidney center via an ambulance
... it was the day when he told me, 'tingnan mo ung kulay ko oh, iba na no?'
... it was the last day I was able to soothe his aching heart
... it was the last day I was able to talk to him
... it was the last day I saw him alive
My Friday the 13th experience then was nothing compared to my mother. At that time, she was still naive. A typical girl from province. She then shared with me bits of her experience at that time. She was alone then with my father. We've got no enough money to spend then as well. She told me how she has to go from one floor to another to get sterilized water for my father's dialysis. She, then, doesn't know how to use the elevator. She just waited for the elevator to stop before she alight it. When my father was about to undergo the procedure, when he was already cut from a part in his stomach, the doctor told that the usual part of the stomach where the dialysis was performed appeared to be so hard. The doctor then have to cut from a different portion.

It was February 14, 1998 then, my father was unable to speak. He just waved his hand to my mother. My mother approached her. He hold her hand, pressed it, then he lost his breath. My mother was already crying while she was telling me that story. And I did too. But I chose not to show her. I don't want her to feel the pain all over again. She uttered, 'Ama, kaya kita dinala dito para gumaling ka' I just told her what my 2 year old niece normally tells her whenever she was crying to break that painful conversation, 'Lola, 'wag iyak'.

But, I take that Friday the 13th as a lucky one. I was lucky enough
... to talk to my father for the last time
... to give him a massage for the last time
... to take care of him for the last time
*** crying ***
Father, don't fade away from me, for you will always be, my sweetest memory, a friend so dear to me...

After the Dot

I have been to this online world about roughly nine (9) months now. And I admit my experience is wonderful. At first, what I had wanted was to have a lot of comments to my posts. An online friend advised me to bloghop. And I did. It had been a give and take relationship. I visit, they visit. I comment, they comment. And it is real fun to have other people share ideas about my personal opinions that I don't usually share, thoughts that are unrevealed.

As I bloghop, I had visited creative blogs with all their wonderful layouts. I kinda feel envious. So here, I had this layout, and had not planned to change in the year future. I'm not that artistic to have my layout changed every now and then. Nevertheless, I still felt contented with my layout.

Next that I would have wanted was to have my blog ranked as one of the top blogs. I had joined several ranking sites and have my blog ranked. The feeling was overwhelming when my rank is climbing the top. And it is quite depressing when it is sliding down. If only I have all the time in the world, I would have taken care of my site 24/7 just to be on top, ha ha.

Then, just recently, one of my blogger friends changed his blog URL from .blogspot.com to .info. Hmmmmn... Why did he changed his URL? Why did he have to purchase his own domain? Why did he have to change the suffix After the Dot? Well, my primary purpose in blogging is to earn money. So why do I have to buy in order to earn? But, as he had told me, it would be of prestige and serious recognition if you would be having your own domain. So the next question is, to which web hosting site should I purchase my domain? Of course I would take into consideration the best web hosting site with the lowest price. And I find this great site, Web Hosting Geeks that showcases the best web hosting sites with their corresponding features. Of course, the best way to choose one is to check for current subscribers' opinions. Hence, they also provided subscriber comments and feed backs. And if you're a newbie, like me, in this After the Dot thingy, you can check their blog for a whole lot of information that is of great help. They also have this web hosting awards that will surely help us in making a decision.

Hmmm, what would be a nice domain for my blog? http://myunrevealedthoughts.net? .info? .com? What would be a nice suffix After the Dot?

Goodbye '_'

Goodbye, Man from Manila
When a celebrity dies, I normally don't care. I don't even drop a tear. Fernando Poe, Jr. (FPJ), Rico Yan, nor Marky Cielo don't made me grieve for their loss. But, with Francis Magalona, I don't simply drop a tear, I cried. I don't know, but every time I watch the news about him being dead, seeing all his family and showbiz friends, and hearing his song, "Every color, every hue, is represented by me and you...", no matter where I am, I can't help myself, but cry. I salute him for being a proud pinoy, and I am too. And I really want to have that shirt with the 3 stars and a sun conceptualized by him. Last Wednesday, he was buried, but the legacy that he left will be living forever. Goodbye Francis M. Goodbye, Man from Manila! May God bless your soul.

Goodbye, Google Adsense
It was earning money online that brought me to this blogging world. And for the past months, it had been my addiction. I was overwhelmed when my Google Adsense reached the minimum payout of $100. I can hardly wait receiving my very first income from this online world. But to my dismay, on Friday the 13th, I received a shocking email that turned my blogworld upside down. Google Adsense Account Disabled. What? Are you kidding me? After all the hard work, after I reached the payout level, you would simply disable my account?! I really don't know what fault I have done for them to disable my account. And even though I asked for reinstatement of my account, they simply reject it for whatsoever reason I barely understand. But, don't worry avid readers (if there is), I won't be leaving the blogworld. There's a lot of ways to earn money online, in fact, I already earned $14.50. And would still be paid, simply for writing stuffs that I love. And I need not to reach any minimum payouts to earn. Goodbye Google Adsense!

Goodbye, Group Messages
Sometime in the past, I had been very active to this online friends that I had. But, for some circumstance, I just don't find myself happy with it. To some yes, but to most of them, I hardly don't want to talk to. I've been silent, and I want to be continually silent, until I find myself loving them all over again. For now, goodbye online friends, goodbye to group messages (GMs), so long, till we meet again.

Don't Talk to Strangers

Last couple of days, I've been conversed by several strangers.

Stranger 1. After meeting my JAMSHIPS friends, I rode myself home at the bus station. Normally, I would look for a vacant seat so I can sit beside the window. I was there, sitting, when another passenger sat beside me. I was kinda scared then 'coz he's drunk. I hate it! He asked me what time is it. I answered, without looking at him, 'Wala po akong relo.' He then told me that he thought that the bracelet that I'm wearing was actually a watch. Then, I just looked at the window. But, he continued on talking to me. He asked me questions like, where I'm working, where would I alight the bus, etc. I really felt uncomfortable that time. So, to keep him from talking to me, I called my friend. I never put my cellphone down, not until I already have to alight the bus. Thanks to Sun Cellular for the unlimited call. Thanks to my friends, AM and Rem, for talking to me for an hour. Thanks to my Tito Jun who would always pick me up, thus, making me feel safe even if I would be home late.

Stranger 2. Friday, I had an appointment with my dentist. Thanks to my TL for allowing me to leave by 4PM. At MRT, a lady allowed me to sit beside her. She suddenly asked me how many minutes would it take before she arrived at Magallanes station. Then I answerd, 'Medyo matagal pa. Santolan, Ortigas, Shaw, Boni... Pangalawa sa huli 'yun eh.' Then, I don't know, but we just have a conversation, then she gave me a gift certificate. Just reminded me of my experience with Stranger 1. Not all strangers are BAD.

Stranger 3. After my appointment with the dentist at MegaMall. I sat in the alloted seats near the piano. I wait there for My Angel. Suddenly, the guy next to me said, 'Excuse me miss, pwedeng maki-text?'. I just smiled at him, and then shook my head. I believe cellphones are private properties not meant to be shared to anybody who needs it. I admit there's a little in my heart that seemed to pity the guy. But, if he has no load, he could have just buy load, we're in a mall anyway. If he has an empty battery, he could have just called through payphones. And not asking for strangers stuff like that.

There, I've mingled with 3 strangers a couple of days ago. Well, everyone's meeting stranger faces everyday, we just have to deal with them, in a way that we won't be in trouble. Keep safe guys!

Be Happy, Be Amazing

Just recently, I've heard a patient of a medical group filing a case for a cosmetic surgery performed on her. She complaint that the said operation had been a failure that caused her face to appear swollen. The question that pops in my mind is "Does she really have the right to file such case?"

I think if only she had searched for Plastic Surgery Advice first before she undergo the said operation, the said 'tragedy' could have been prohibited. I, myself, had undergone some facials, peelings, and other treatments of the skin. And there's a waiver being signed before a delicate procedure is performed. So, to answer my question above, she should rest her case.

Well, if she really planned to undergo a cosmetic surgery, may it be on her face or any part of her body, she should be equipped with the necessary information. If she has questions, she can search online. The world wide web had been a collection of enormous information. Every question she have, an answer is waiting with a click on her mouse. If she has that money to spend, she might as well consider traveling. And to avoid such 'tragedy', she should pick a reputable center that has a lot of commendations from former patients. One that is said to be better than the others.

If you want to be happy, if you want to be amazing, you should always carry a weapon, and that is -- knowledge. Be Happy, Be Amazing, Be Knowledgeable. How? Seek for advise.

I was soooooooo blessed to have a friend that allowed me to fulfill one of my wishes, rather, My Angel's wish -- to have a basketball signed by all Purefoods TJ Giants (PF) players, especially Alvin 'The Captain' Patrimonio. Although we failed to have Alvin's signature, it is still overwhelming to have the Purefoods Basketball.

The Purefoods Basketball

James Carlos Yap #18 - My Angel's favorite PBA player

Enrico Villanueva #14

Richard Yee #28

Jondan Salvador #61

Paolo Bugia #15

Al Vergara #19

Rich Alvarez #32

Aaron Aban #17

Jonathan Fernandez #12

Rommel Adducul #10

Topex Robinson #19

Roger Yap #13

Peter June Simon #8

Don Allado #41

KG Canaleta #9

Brian Hamilton #45

Kerby Raymundo #5, my favorite player.

The first signature I looked for was Alvin's. When I can't find one, the next thing I searched was Kerby's. I find it real hard looking for his signature. And I find Kerby so, errr, I can't think of the right term. Before his signature is a verse from the Bible, John 3:3. And here's what it says:

In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again"
