Have you checked your Google Page Rank (PR) lately? If not, I suggest you check yours now. Google had made an update of their rankings. And, as expected, my PR had been in see-saw ever since. Before, I got really affected by the thought that my PR had dropped. But now, I get used to it. Moreover, I actively submit my blogs to SEO friendly web directory. Want to know why?A web directory, synonymous to any directory, contains a list of related websites compiled for users searching for a specific category. Say, the Yahoo Directory. It is the most common web directory that holds a list of online business owners all over the world. So, what do these directories offer?
Imagine you are a newbie in the online business and would want to find similar businesses in the web to serve as your pattern. You can Google it. But that would only return you sites that contain keywords found within various websites. On the contrary, a business web directory would return an efficient list of websites directly related to your online business.
Now, let’s go back to PR. No one, up to now, can actually directly decipher the algorithm used by Google in ranking web pages. But, I can assure you, that building back links to your website or blog is an effective way of increasing your PR. Familiar with exchange links? Well, it is good to exchange links with blogs with higher PR. But, if you exchange links with blogs of low, or even unavailable, PR would affect your ranking too. Conclusively, you have to create back links or trade links with sites of relatively high PR. And the best way to do that is to submit your blog to reliable web directories. Aside from Yahoo, another authoritative web directory is DMOZ.

You may want to submit your site to majoy search engine like Google, DMOZ, AOL Search, Yahoo Search and MSN or Microsoft.

I have other thought comes to my mind about increasing PR with link building.
I have two friends, with their blog hosted at blogspot.com. Their blog have backlinks from many PR2, PR3, and PR4 blogs for more than 1 year. They even have backlinks from PR5 blogs. They also don't have many links out but their blog still have no PageRank Information, never have PR.
That's quite weird, I think. My own blog got PR1 in one month with just 1 link from PR2 blog. My other blog have PR2 in 3 months without any link building.
The Google algorithm still a mystery.

Sometimes, you just have to focus on the net traffic of your blog/site then the page rank will surely be high!!!

You might want to do a little more link building if you want to increase in page rank. There are more than 100 search engines around the world also where you can submit your blog. I suggest you use automated tools such as WebCEO (they have a free version) so that all you have to do is fill in the site info and the tool will do the submission for you. Most importantly, content will get your readers come back for more. If your readers like your posts, they will always come back and they will voluntarily link to your site. Nice blog. :D

I have been blogging for years and still I don't know that much of a thing about google. I barely check my page rank. My personal blog doesn't ever get a PR but my fashion blog does. I think i should check it latur. Thanks for the tips, it's very helpful. I tried to submit my sites too in some directories but they doesn't seem to work for me. Anyway goodluck to us =D

It's very hard to be listed in DMOZ.org. I had tried few times, but still not included. But submission to online directories are really helping. Not to neglect, the submission to feed directories are equally effective and essential.
